Age: 27
Portrayed By: Kelly Monaco

College, Job, or Both: (if college include major and year, if job include where.) Kurenai teaches Criminal Psychology. She is the Head of the Psychology Department and occasionally works with the local Police in regard to cases and helping police officers deal with any traumatic situations.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: In her spare time Kurenai likes to exercise, drink, shop, and date when the fancy strikes. She also enjoys working on puzzles and crosswords and if approached correctly does enjoy showing off her dancing moves.

Brief History: (please put at least 2 paragraphs) Born the only child of two police officers in South Boston, Massachusetts Kurenai was raised from birth to be a well-mannered but blunt individual. Outspoken but also feminine, she took after her mother in both attitude and looks, but when she was fourteen her mother died during a drug bust gone wrong which changed Kurenai's life forever. She went from being essentially happy-go-lucky and fearless to constantly worrying about her own mortality, and began acting out. In an effort to keep her from joining a gang or ending up pregnant and dropping out of school her father sent her to live with his brother, a psychologist living in San Francisco.

After a rocky start with the uncle she had never known, Kurenai found herself adapting well to living in such a vibrant city. She slowly began to open up to her uncle, and with his guidance began to realize it was simply God's will which took her mother away and to be hesitant and angry over something she couldn't change would make her weak and easily preyed upon. A hard worker, Kurenai decided with her uncle's blessing to pursue a career in psychology, and with her exceptional grades earned a scholarship to one of the state's top universities. Double majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice, she heard that the SFPD was looking to hire an on-call psychologist. After successfully completing her degrees she applied to and got accepted to assist the criminalists at the police station.

While she was working her way through the system a position opened for a Criminal Psychology professor at Mishima University, and although she was still considered young by certain standards Kurenai went for the position. Over time, she has become the Head of the Psychology Department and also assists the Police with any cases they might need a psychological consult on. Due to the drive that she has shown in pushing herself to suceed, many consider Kurenai to be something of a ball-buster. Others even wonder as to her sexual orientation as she seems to have no personal life to speak of. Being an incredibly private person who knows just how much of a man's world it truly is, she does not speak of her life outside of work and finds speculation over her life endlessly amusing. If only they knew...

Kurenai part 2

Role-playing Sample: (3rd person, at least 2 paragraphs) "Alright class, the subject is a male, mid-twenties, arrested for rape and attempted murder of a minor. Subject was found in the company of a female, early teens, and two males also in their early teens. All three minors were intoxicated and signs of marijuana usage was apparent. The subject was not intoxicated but was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. So, without any background information on the subject, I want each of you to work in teams and hypothesize what made a seemingly normal man commit the acts attributed to him."

Stepping away from the blackboard, the stern but smiling woman glanced at each of her students and watched as desks were moved together. Taking a seat at her desk she looked over her latest consultation for the police department. Her subject was a police officer who had recently been shot, and it was to be a routine consultation to make certain he was mentally fit to get back to work.

As she read through his file a few things stood out to her. This was his first actual injury while on the job, and while by all accounts the man seemed pleasant and easy to get along with this type of situation could change someone for the worst. She began to scrawl down hewer initial thoughts when she heard a noise.

"Ms Yuuhi, we have a question." She looked out and noticed the speaker, a quiet young man who had been excelling in these types of assignment. Nodding for him to continue, she listened. "You stated that our subject was found with three minors but you made no mention of any trauma on them."

Kurenai smirked slightly, nodding. "Good catch, and only the female minor showed any signs of trauma. Any other questions?" She waited to see if there were, and when nobody else spoke up she went back to what she had been doing before.

Pick Two songs for your Character: Michael Buble - Sway

Pink - Most Girls

Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)? Kurenai is somewhat social in a guarded sense. She does not open up or trust easily, but for those who are patient with the fact that she will psychoanalyze everything you say she can be a loyal and excellent friend. Also, anyone who is granted the privilege of being her friend is privy to her services for free if needed. She doesn't judge, but she most certainly does file the knowledge away for future usage.

Any Notes for the Mods? If this sucks let me know! ^^

Character Info -
Name: Sango Matsushida
Age: 19
Portrayed By: Yui Aragaki

College, Job, or Both:

Completed one year of college, took this year off, plans to re-enroll in the fall of 2008. Major in communications. Works full-time (currently) at a small bookstore.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities:

Sango loves sports, particularly soccer and softball, but isn't playing right now due to being out of school. She takes an aikido class outside of school and enjoys fighting style video games - She can sometimes be found at the arcade, huddling over a Marvel vs. Capcom or Mortal Kombat cabinet and hoping nobody sees her amidst the writhing mass of twelve-year-olds.

Brief History:

Sango was born to a loving, second generation Japanese-American couple, and followed four years later by her little brother, whom she adored and cherished. Her life was a happy one, and throughout her childhood, she was cheerful and friendly and excelled at sports and academics. She even graduated in the top fourth of her high school class, and was the star of many school sports teams. She dreamed of one day attending Mishima and playing for the school's teams.

Shortly after the end of classes in her freshman year, around three in the morning, a fire broke out in her family home. For whatever reason, the smoke alarms in their house did not work, and the fire had spread far throughout the entire building before a neighbor realized what was going on and phoned the fire department. A firefighter pulled an unconscious Sango from her room, closest to the front entrance and farthest from the start of the blaze, and as he and others were about to go back in, the second floor collapsed. Sango woke up in a hospital room two days later to find that her parents were both dead. Her brother's body was never found, but he was presumed dead, as well.

The once bright and friendly Sango withdrew into herself - The grieving process and attempts to piece her life back together took a heavy toll on the young woman, and she elected to take a year off of school and get things back in order. She does better now, but not even a year has passed since the incident and so some wounds are still fresh. She lives on her own, in an apartment with her cat, Kirara.

Role-playing Sample:

Sango sighed as she continued to shelve the new releases. There were so many books to do today, and it didn't help that all the middle schoolers had come in for the newest copy of the latest popular fantasy novel. Something about dragon slayers and ninjas and wizards and... No, she didn't know. At least they were reading, though, right? It just, well, sucked that there weren't any copies left. When there weren't any copies left of those sorts of things, it made her life hell for about a week.

She stretched a bit, lifting her arms over her head. Damn. Aikido was canceled for tonight, but that was just as well. It was fun, and a nice release, but she was sore from falling down earlier, and it would be good to head home and take a hot bath and fall asleep with Kirara. Just her... All quiet, and relaxation...

God, she wished she had a life, but she couldn't bring herself to get out there and make friends. After the accident, everything had been pity and sorrow and "Oh, you poor little dear", and she'd hated that. Poor Mama, poor Daddy, poor Kohaku, not poor Sango! The pain and guilt had been almost too much for her to take. They were gone, and she wasn't. Why?

And now, she was coming to terms with it better, but still felt guilty for even the idea of going and being happy and partying when her family was dead - Not to mention scared that something horrible might happen again if she got close to someone. It was irrational, but she couldn't help it.

The bell on the door rang, signaling a customer, and Sango got up with a small groan and peeked around the edge of the bookcase. "Hello, welcome to or store! I'm sorry, but we're out of Sam Stone and the Crystal of Truth, can I help you find something else?"

Extra Credit - (to help us gain insight into your character)
Pick Two songs for your Character:
This is difficult, as I don't listen to a lot of contemporary music or music that's in English. XD

What's Love Got to Do with It - Tina Turner - She doesn't deal well with romantic relationships and is pretty scared of getting close to people again. If she were to fall for someone, she'd probably feel like this.

Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)?

Anti-social now, for sure.

Swank has arrived~ Part II
[info]charming_bandit
2008-03-03 04:32 am UTC (link)
Brief History: The Beautiful Suzuki is in actuality a young man named Toshiya Suzuki. He was born in Tokyo to a rather large, lower-income family, having five brothers and a sister, making for six siblings. Suzuki was the product of a fling his mother had with an American man, and is the only child in his family to have naturally blonde hair, as well as green eyes. Because of this, one can easily imagine that his "father" (Being the man his mother is married to) wasn't happy. It was a major tear in the family that took years to resolve, but she refused to turn Suzuki away just because of what he was. He was still her child, and within a few years, more arrived, leaving him a middle child. Eventually, his father accepted him, even if he shows preferential treatment to Suzuki's brothers over himself.

Suzuki grew up on hand-me-downs from his elder brothers. He rarely received brand new clothing, but was always happy when he did. With elder and younger siblings, he was rarely given the attention needed, and developed middle child syndrome. It was hard, feeling as if he didn't belong in his own family. With both parents working, he was often teased both in and out of school for his heritage, often looking to his elder brother, Hiro to come to his rescue. Hiro proved to be a true blessing, taking Suzuki under his wing and teaching him how to defend himself. The young boy practiced, and learned how to protect himself after school when picked on, leaving other children with split lips or skinned-knees

When Suzuki was ten though, something happened that changed him. Before, the boy had always been somewhat quiet, shy, lashing out only when picked on, and even then somewhat reluctantly. Evening came, and his mother sent him around the corner to pick up a few groceries for her from the local convenience store. Proud to be the one selected, Suzuki made his way down the street, purchasing the items and starting for home. Somewhat small for his age, a few of his classmates appeared and decided he looked to be easy prey (as they were in a group). Laughing, they shoved the boy over, watching as he fell, the bag of groceries spilling from his arms. They walked away moment's later, as a few teenagers approached, not wanting to get into trouble. Suzuki sat on the sidewalk for a moment, trying to keep from crying when one of the teenagers approached, holding his hand out. He helped Suzuki up, dusting him off kindly, and Suzuki couldn't help but be dazzled by the array of colors and fabric he wore. The epitome of oshare. He left Suzuki with a few words of wisdom that the boy never forgot and holds to this day.

"Never doubt yourself, ne? And remember to stand up and remain beautiful, no matter what anyone says!"

Everyone noticed the change in him, from his own family to his classmates. Suzuki became less awkward and more determined. His grades, before a moderate average from apathy began to climb, earning praise from his teachers, and to his vast pleasure (and surprise!) his parents! But his determination didn't stop there. He began to do odd jobs. Little things for his mother's friends, earning him extra pocket money with which he bought fabric. It was cheaper than clothing, and with it, Suzuki pestered his mother until she taught him the rudiments of sewing and from there spent his time perfecting what would be a lifelong passion. He finally had new clothing in bright colors, and he was something. And if someone made fun of him, they ended up with a black eye or worse, as his aggression and greed for praise grew.

When thirteen though, Suzuki's father received a promise for a better job, and the clan moved to America, taking up residence in San Francisco. His eldest two brothers opted to stay behind for a few years, and visit occasionally, relieving some of the financial burden from his parents. Placed in public high school, Suzuki refused to let that shyness cloud his judgments, and put on a mask of arrogance that would make a peacock look modest. It was there that he made friends with another boy of Japanese residence, named Shishiwakamaru, and though they bickered constantly, the two were fast friends for their differences.

Character Info -
Name: Suzaku Nakashima
Age: 20
Portrayed By: Hideaki Takizawa

College, Job, or Both: College, job (he works in a branch of his father's company as a junior businessman.)

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Taking care of his Hyacinth Macaw, Murugu and slasher movies. Everything in life can somehow be parallel to a movie he's seen. If you're a serial killer, he's your fanboy and wants to grow up to be JUST LIKE YOU.

Brief History: Suzaku was born into privilege. His father was a wealthy businessman, and his mother was a stay-at-home housewife, ever the dutiful mother and marital partner to her husband. She doted on Suzaku, but his father preferred a sterner upbringing. Suzaku’s father was always emotionally distant with the boy, expecting that when his son grew up he would become a business major and take over his father’s corporation after him, as was proper for a son of his. Suzaku had been the only son born, his birth difficult, leaving his mother unable to have another child. His father had his heir, and cared little else for having more, and that was fine with his mother as well.

When his mother died, the little “princeling” was under his father’s full control and all coddling stopped the day after she was gone. The mourning period for Suzaku would be considered over then. His father remarried exactly 6 months later, and now he even has a baby sister...but as rarely as he sees his father, he has yet to bother to learn more about her. The child wasn’t important, except as a sick sort of fascination. Suzaku’s stepmother keeps her daughter from Suzaku.

Suzaku has a cold nature, and a manipulative personality. People are useful as long as he can find a way to amuse himself at their expense. Despite his angelic appearance, Suzaku has a known (to his secretary and friends at least) cruel streak, and a love for causing other’s pain. It fascinates him. How people react under pressure, how they act when things are not in their favor. Suzaku can fight, and while his build is rather slim, he’s got the muscles hidden under that flesh to protect himself. He just prefers to let others do the dirty work for him. That’s a grunt’s job, after all. Not to say that Suzaku won’t fight if need be, or even if he –wants– to. He just prefers not to dirty himself to get what he wants. He would hate to be called a thug...even if that is precisely what he is. The very act of seeing others in pain amuses him. He’d probably kick a kitten.

Suzaku grew up attending private schools; nothing but the best for the son of the great Nakashima Iwao. Suzaku took to the training it provided him, and at the same time enriched a great love for music....his own at least. When in leisure time, Suzaku likes to indulge in the flute. He can even sing...but he doesn’t. It’s not an important thing, not a tool he can use to manipulate others. Moving to America with his family, he's moved out of their home and taken an apartment. While not as nice as what he's used to, supporting himself financially while his father takes care of school keeps him in the upper income apartments when he isn't at work or studying.

Perhaps though....the building will be a good place to learn more about the world. After all, he’s to take over after his father...

Role-playing Sample: Hands curled over the windowsill for a moment, staring down, down at the city below. The move to America had only happened recently, and Suzaku was eager to take in every nuance of the city, see and take all that it had to offer. He turned, cold eyes alighting on the young secretary his father had put in charge of his comforts. Of course, she was nothing more than a glorified babysitter, an escort about town, and...at the moment displaying that she was trying desperately not to be nervous. A light smile played his lips, a motion that meant nothing beyond a pretend façade of calm.

“Well...what shall we do now, Miller-san?” he asked in deliberate, accented English, arching one blonde brow upwards. The woman in question looked up, bowing once as she moved towards the window. He stepped aside, letting her stand there beside him. She chewed her lower lip nervously, thoughtfully.

“Well, Nakashima...er..san! We could explore the city, if you like?” she held up her clipboard with a bright smile. “I’ve compiled a short list of places I’m sure you would be thrilled to see!” Her smile was so bright, so eager to do a good job...it made it all the sweeter to shatter it that way.

“What a positively idiotic plan.” He said in that ever-pleasant, musical voice, his words falling on her ears like a ton of ice, crushing her. Fumbling for her clipboard, she tried to read off her notes, what to do, what her boss would want her to do, but he put his hand over it, snatching it away with a pleasant smile, tossing it behind his back, where it slammed into a painting, ripping the canvas. A glance backwards, arching a brow.

“Look at that, Miller-san...already causing trouble. You’re lucky I don’t have you fired.” Pleasantly spoken, yet so callous. Was this what her charge for the weekend was? A beautiful little monster?

“In fact...” he continued with a light chuckle, “I think you should be fired. You’re rather boring.” He murmured as he turned, hands stroking over the cool glass as he stared out at the city. And she was boring. Perfectly mousy and uninteresting. Nothing to admire or make a grand deal of. Just a rodent to be crushed under his bootheel.

“Tomorrow I’m going to look over the campus. Perhaps you could visit me there. I’m sure we could find something to do.” her face paled at what she perceived was an improper innuendo. Suzaku laughed, the back of his hand sliding to his lips, politely covering them.

“Did you think that an innuendo, Miller-san? I don’t touch my father’s leavings. And I don’t doubt...that’s why you got the position of watching over me.” The woman was torn. She wanted to deny his words, but if she angered him she would lose her job, she was sure of it! Tears threatened to spill from her eyes at his crude words and he merely brushed a hand gently over her face, fingertips catching a few of her tears.

“Cry little mouse...I love the tears of those too weak to take care of themselves. They’re so easy to crush.” Abruptly a smile touched his lips once more, and with a perfectly formal bow he turned, heading for the door.

“I can find my own way to my room. Goodnight, Miller-san....” and the door clicked shut, the woman left alone to contemplate the little monster that would soon be let loose on America...

Re: Wrath

Brief History: (please put at least 2 paragraphs) Wrath was raised by Izumi Curtis and her husband, Sig Curtis. His mother, Izumi was a martial arts instructor and his father a butcher who sometimes was known to help Izumi out at her small school. The boy grew up in a happy home, thinking all along that Izumi Curtis was his biological mother. However, this was not so.

15 years prior, around when Wrath's birthday is, Izumi gave birth to her real child. A son. She and Sig had been trying to have one for years, and it was a difficult birth. The baby itself was born, premature but healthy. He was taken home to his loving family and all seemed perfect for the first few days. Sig left a day or so later to attend to a family emergency out of state, leaving Izumi with precious time alone with her new son. However, despite their best efforts there would be tragedy.

Izumi was devastated to find her infant dead in his crib one morning, especially so soon after bringing him home. Inconsolable, she wanted nothing to do with anyone. She didn't return Sig's concerned calls, and whenever he asked what was wrong she would simply say she was tired, or sick, and leave it at that. She didn't want to be coddled, too angry at herself, angry at God for taking away her baby. She would often leave the now-empty home she had with Sig for long walks, returning often late into the evening.

It was during one of these such walks, perhaps a week after her child's death that she found what was to be Wrath. Left alone in a baby stroller in the late evening in a park that bordered a forest. She had almost walked past, not even seeing the tiny infant. Only a week or two old, at most. Almost, until he had cried out with a loud wail that tugged at her heartstrings, and made her investigate. She was immediately filled with rage over how someone could leave a baby alone, unattended (it was a particularly infuriating blow, after her recent loss), and without another backward glance, she simply walked home, clutching the baby.

It was as if her son had returned to her.

When Sig returned, he knew nothing of what happened, of the dead child that was now forgotten, Izumi having replaced him with the new infant. She was half convinced that Emil was her son, that perhaps it had been her that had misplaced him. But always these thoughts were pushed back. She was a practical woman, after all.

Izumi's health began to slowly deteriorate as Emil grew up. But never did she stop loving him. The boy was a miracle. A bundle of mischief, but loving to his parents. Like any child, he had his moments of trouble, but often he came around to his mother's way of thinking with little discipline, wanting to please her, and see her healthy. Rebellion came later, as he reached his teenage years. Even then it was normally mild, his anger normally no more so than the next teenage boy's.

Due to Izumi's health however, she began to fear letting her young son see her deteriorate in such a fashion. With a heavy heart she contacted her old pupil, a brilliant young man named Edward Elric, to see if perhaps he would agree to take her son in for a time while she tried to recuperate...or come to terms with the very possible idea of death.

Name: Rangiku (Ran) Matsumoto
Age: 21
Portrayed By: Marissa Miller

College, Job, or Both: College. Junior majoring in Fashion.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Event Coordinator for Sigma Sigma Sorority. Secretary for the Fashion Society.
Brief History: Born to a low income second generation Asian, albeit heavily diluted, family, Rangiku always wanted a better life for herself. With her unusual and very pretty looks she easily got things she wanted even from perfect strangers.

She was raised in East San Jose, and attended Independence High School. Though her name was Asian she looked anything but and in a school seemingly as racially diverse as IHS, "white" was in the severe minority. Suffice to say Rangiku kept to herself in high school and studied hard, knowing that education would get her out of the rocky life she lead.

The girl was nominally popular, after all, by sixteen she had the body of an under-aged sex-kitten. However, she used her charms to succeed academically. Where her scores earned her a B plus, a little extra "effort" got her an A minus. Ran worked odd jobs after school and over the weekends and holidays to earn money for herself and save up for college. She mostly waitressed, but the moment she turned 18, she decided to earn some real cash and began putting in Friday and Saturday nights at The Brass Rail in Sunnyvale.

Ran eventually graduated high school at the top 5% of her class. She was accepted into Mishima University on a partial scholarship. However she deferred her entrance for a year and opted to use some of her college money on a trip to France. The young woman hoped to find her passion there.

While in Paris, Ran fell in love, and succumbed to a torrid affair. However in this passionate miasma she was shown, through her lover, the world of fashion. A world which Rangiku felt she belonged. She had an eye for color and design and her passion for beauty channeled into her sketches.

Rangiku returned to San Francisco and entered school her freshman year ready and willing to learn everything there was to learn about Fashion. However, there were tuition and bills to consider so, she got herself a job at Absinthe where she makes excellent money as a dancer under an alias, Kiki (or Randi or Gigi) Malone.

It's been two years and Ran finds herself just entering her third year of school and an active member of the school community. She pledged a sorority in her second semester of her first year and has since become a solid leader in the sorority. She still dances at Absinthe as it's good money and she enjoys the double life.

Rangiku poked her head from beneath the coverlet at the clock. The sound of its death cries alerting her to its dilemma. Again she found herself cursing. "Fuck. That's the second one this month." She sighed and sat up, looking out the window.

With the overcast and foggy sky it was hard to discern what time it was. Leaning over the edge of the bed, she felt around on the floor for her cell phone. She knew it was in her jeans. Taking the article of clothing she dug in the pockets until she found it. Verifying the time, she swore again. Her 7am class. Curse Amber for sweet-talking her into taking her shift, but she'd promised her an extra five hundred for the favor.

Slithering out of bed, the blonde crawled to the bathroom and hauled herself up to the counter and winced. She'd forgotten to take her make up the earlier that morning. She looked like one of those wasted, drugged out drag-queen hookers in the Tenderloin.

Suddenly she groaned. "Fuck. I have a review today... Ugh. Today is just gonna suck!"

Is your Character Social or Anti-social? Rangiku is quite the social butterfly.

Any Notes for the Mods? I deliberately left out mentions of Gin in the app. Since I don't know who or when a player for him will show up, I'd rather that any prior connection come up in game so that neither one of us are forced to play backgrounds that don't fit our characters. A lot of the areas mentioned in the application, IHS, Tenderloin, Sunnyvale, Brass Rail, etc are actual locations in the Bay Area. Independence High School is known as a ghetto school with a student body of six thousand students. It's not on the same academic par as some of the other schools in the area with better funding. Hence why, Rangiku, while managing to get excellent grades, can't get a full scholarship.

Brief History:

Cirucci spent most of her life with a mother that considered herself an actress even though she never left the San Fransisco Community Theater. Her father, on the other hand, was a criminal, a man who spent more of his life in prison than out of it. Both her mother and father didn't have any time for their child as they cherished their careers more than her, so she was alone most of the time, either at home or the theater.

It was when she was a teenager, after she finally lost contact with her father, that she really started to pull away from her mother. Instead, she had a new family, a family that was considered the outcast of her school, a family that got into trouble with authority more times than not. This family considered themselves artists. Some drew, some sang, and some played an instruments, including one young man she met when she was sixteen.

She already had a crush on him by the end of their first meeting, something she still won't admit to this day. (She's strong enough on her own and doesn't need anyone around her.) Apart from being able to play the guitar, he was also a pretty good DJ and played at most of the local and not so local clubs. It was only six months after they met that he started teaching her how to feel the rhythm of the music and make some of her own music on his turntables. By the time she graduated high school, she played more than a few nights at a club down the street from where she lived. Also, by the time she graduated high school, her relationship with the boy ended as he went off to New York and she wasn't going to follow after a boy when she had her own life to live.

Other than music, drawing and photography were other subjects she took a liking to. Cirucci started drawing at an early age, and having few friends at that time meant she was able to hone her skill into something that made some people envious. In school, art was the only subject she excelled in or cared about and it lead her to Mishima University, a school that had a decent art program and would actually take her despite the average grades she was getting in her other classes.

At this point in time, Cirucci, the loudmouth with an almost constant attitude, has returned to Mishima University after being away for a semester and is none too happy about having to finish up her Sophomore year when she should be a Junior.

Personality:

She is loud. She doesn't exactly care to be the center of attention, but it can become that way if she gets excited about something or is in a heated argument. It doesn't bother Cirucci much. Her theory is: If they didn't want to listen, they should have stayed at home. This means she can be crude and a bit unrefined at times without caring about any repercussions there might be. She also fights if things don't go her way and will be sure to rub it in if they ultimately do.

She is also quiet. It's mostly seen when she's doing activities she enjoys. Even to this day there are times when Cirucci hates being alone. These are the days when she gets into more trouble than usual. Her closest friends know this, but no one has ever been close enough to see her break down in an empty apartment because the settling of the walls broke the silence.

Brief History:

Growing up without incident in a small Midwestern town, Roy Mustang found himself more than slightly bored by the time he reached his senior year of high school. He had already learned how to fix some of his grades by sweet talking or manipulating his teachers. (Hey, it wasn't his fault juicy news like his shop teacher having an affair with his gym teacher fell right into his lap or that the art teacher loved to be complimented on how her clothes accentuated her physique.) What added to his boredom was the sense of being lost in life. His parents wanted him to go off to college like most of his peers, but he felt it would be just like high school only on a larger scale. He had already "been there, done that". It wasn't until a guest speaker told him he could make a difference in people's lives by being in the US Army did he really feel the boredom of school trickle away. Not allowing himself to give it two or three more thoughts, Roy joined the Army. He went into boot camp only days after his high school graduation.

He enlisted for only four years of active duty. While active, Roy was able to help a few people overseas, but his time in the military was never as great as the guest speaker made it out to be. In 2000 after he went into the Reserves, Roy found himself in San Fransisco still wanting to fulfill the need to help those he said he would. He decided to become a police officer. This was the career that really helped those less fortunate since the police officer was able to get closer to the people than anyone in the Army could be. went out on the streets and really got see first hand those they helped.

In 2002 those ideals changed. He was called out of reserve to serve in Afghanistan for the War on Terrorism. It didn't take long for him to see many of his friends die or for him finally have to lift his gun to take another human life. He hated killing; to him it was murder, but it was being done in order to save those around him. If he could just save one person, it would be worthwhile. It didn't make it any easier, though.

It was only a year later when he was shot. The injury to the left side of his abdomen was significant enough to pull him out of combat and to keep him home for the rest of his four years in the Reserves. After that, Roy left the Army for good, deciding to focus on becoming Chief of Police instead. Even though having the power was a very good selling point, he wanted to sit at that position because he would not only be able to save the civilians who counted on him but also the men within his force who most likely counted on him even more.

Since then, Roy has risen through the force as fast as it has been possible while keeping everything in his personal life out of it. This has given him the reputation of being power hungry, but those around him know he still holds on to his teenage dream. Besides, they won't hesitate to knock him down a peg or three should he ever change.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Chad would like to start a band, but none of his friends are particularly musically inclined. He plays bass guitar and enjoys listening to 70’s rock. Chad app, parte dos
[info]lijororli
2008-08-27 12:17 am UTC (link)
Brief History: Though born in Okinawa, Japan, Chad was such an unruly child that his parents sent him to live with his strict grandfather in Mexico for a few weeks before he started school, hoping the man would be able to impart some old-fashioned virtues on their hotheaded son. On their way back home from the airport, his parents were in a fatal automobile accident, making Chad’s stay with his grandfather more permanent than had been intended. Viewing his grandfather as the reason behind his parents’ deaths, young Chad only became more hostile and distempered, proving to be a handful for the aging Oscar Joaquin de la Rosa.

Using his size to his advantage, Chad spent the following years being a violent bully, beating up on any child who so much as looked at him the wrong way. When the elder brothers and even the fathers of his victims finally had enough of his behavior and attacked Chad, Oscar stepped in and took the beating for his grandson. It was that act of selflessness that changed Chad’s point of view. Afterwards, Oscar gave Chad an old Mexican coin that had been given to him by his own grandfather, and Chad viewed this as a sign of love and trust between the two of them.

Oscar passed away when Chad was sixteen, and Chad decided that it was time to face the life that should have been his, had his senseless rage not gotten the better of him since childhood. While on the plane back to Japan, Chad looked at the coin that his deceased grandfather had given him and vowed that he would follow Oscar’s valiant example, and never use his strength except to love and protect others.

While enrolled in Karakura High School, Chad was standing by and allowing a group of thugs to torment him rather than fight back, and an unfamiliar orange-haired boy stood up for him. He became one of Chad’s only friends, despite the fact that he kept pronouncing his surname as “Chado” rather than Sado. Soon enough, he stopped correcting him and it became a nickname.

After graduating high school, Chad spent a year in Mexico, attending a community college and spending time with his distant cousins. He wasn’t getting anywhere, however, and began to worry that he’d be getting a useless degree that’d land him in a useless career. Chad did some research and eventually found Mishima University, discovering that they offered a Linguistics program, which is something he had long been interested in. Because of his consistently high grades and self-dependency, Chad was both granted entrance into Mishima and given various scholarships, making the move doable.

Personality: Chad is incredibly reserved and quiet, leading people to believe that he’s standoffish and intimidating. In reality, he’s a loyal friend to the people who can overcome his reticence and really wishes that there were more people in the world like that. As much as he’d like to have an entire squadron of friends, he believes in living a simple life, and doesn’t feel that he needs to decorate his opinions with long eloquent speeches or amusing anecdotes in order to be happy.

At the same time, Chad is aware that his appearance can be daunting, so he’ll sometimes attempt to lighten the mood with a joke, which often falls flat due to his lack of inflection or accompanying facial expressions. He finds that people are often willing to forgive his socially awkward behavior, as he is clearly a person that one would rather have as a friend rather than an enemy. Ever since he watched his grandfather beaten because of him, Chad is extremely protective of virtually anyone he’s ever met (from lifelong friends to stray animals), but will only resort to violence if there truly is no other way.

Character Info -
Name: Momo Hinamori
Age: 19
Portrayed By: Ishihara Satomi

College, Job, or Both: Second year of College, major in Political Science/minor in Communication; Interns in the political office, working for Aizen.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: She studied/studies Kenjutsu and Yoga, though it's recently taken a back seat to her internship.

Brief History: Momo Hinamori was born and grew up in a small town in northern California. Her parents were professors at the Art Institue of Portland. Her mother taught classes in the Interior Design major, while her father taught classes dealing with digital film and video. Both were somewhat absent during her childhood, so she spent most of her time with her, mostly younger, friends.

Attempting to make up for their absence, Momo's parents put her into several classes including ballroom dance, kenjutsu, and yoga. She never enjoyed the the dance classes and quickly dropped them. She continued studying both kenjutsu and yoga, however, and took classes in both throughout Middle School and High School. Because of this, she wasn't very involved in activities at her high school.

She was eager to leave home when it came time for her to start college and Mishima University seemed like the perfect choice. She, of course, opted to dorm at the college (it was more affordable than getting an apartment). Soon after she finished her first year there she applied for an internship to work for Sosuke Aizen.

Personality: Momo is quite possible one of the kindest people you'd ever meet. She'd give anything for the people she cares about. She has a very strong sense of what's right and wrong and, while very adept at being a kenjutsu, doesn't enjoy fighting and is very wary of telling many people about her ability with the sword.

She is an upbeat and easy-going girl who is generally quite trusting- though quite possibly too trusting-, but also very impulsive, emotionally vulnerable, and naïve. She's incredibly loyal, though these loyalties can easily turn into a kind of infatuation. She's very studious and determined (though her determination doesn't often show through in more than just her studies) and has a natural ablility towards some things (especially things like History which required her to memorize things like dates and names).

Role-playing Sample:
Momo ran up the stairs to her dorm room. Her last class had run late and if she didn't hurry she was going to be late for work. Her face was flushed as she opened the door, before tossing her book bag on her bed. She pulled the door to her closet open. She couldn't be late. She didn't want Aizen to be disappointed in her.

Her face flushed again. She was lucky to be working for him. Not every political science major could get an internship- especially with someone as nice at him... She shook her head quickly. She needed to focus, it wouldn't do to get lost in some daydream when she barely had enough time to change.

She was out the door in minutes and, now, running down the stairs. Moments later, she stood at the edge of the sidewalk, glancing down the street. Now, all she had to do was find the fast way across the city. She looked at her watch. "Oh no, I'm never going to make it..."

She felt the sudden urge to just curl into a ball and hide. There was no way she could avoid getting in trouble for being late. Though, she reasoned with herself, he is such a nice person...So, maybe, he won't be mad? Satisfied with that she took a deep breath. She'd probably still get in trouble for being late, but as long as he wasn't upset with her..

Extra Credit - (to help us gain insight into your character)
Pick Two songs for your Character: Avril Lavigne- Things I'll Never Say - Momo has quite a crush on Aizen, a feeling that showed up, more or less, when she first saw him. She worked her hardest to end up working for him. She would give anything for him to see her as more than just a girl that works for him.
The Bravery- Believe - Momo isn't exactly cut out for the life in politics she's leading. Her original interest in the subject, merely stemmed from the fact that it was as far from her parents' careers as she could get. She's stuck to it because San Francisco happens to have an incredibly charismatic politician by the name of Sosuke Aizen. In this cut-throat world of politics- though the girl certainly hasn't even seen the half of it- she needs something to keep her sane, to keep her believing.
Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)? Hm, definitely social. Momo can be a tad shy when meeting new people (or around certain people), but she's very friendly and gets along well with most people that she meets.

Any Notes for the Mods? Hm..Not really... Oh! Thanks, Crow-mod for the help with finding a PB ♥

* It perhaps bears mentioning that I've chosen to deviate from Ken'ichi Matsuyama's portrayal, for purely aesthetic reasons. True, Matsuyama is lovely and did a brilliant job with L's mannerisms and dramatic expression, but, in canon, L is not Japanese. He is a Euromutt, and that is the version I would like to convey. ^^

College, Job, or Both: (if college include major and year, if job include where.) L works as a detective, unsurprisingly. However, he works independently of the police, whether due to arrogance or simply because he dislikes the constant hustle and bustle. Plus, he's not too keen on the flashy lights of those damn police cars.

Re: L Application, This Being the Second Part
[info]faustian_angel7
2008-09-19 12:32 am UTC (link)
Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: L has a fairly narrow range of interests, but he is intensely dedicated to those he does have. He plays the violin very well, using it to improve his concentration and relieve stress. He loves the Russian existentialists, but prefers Dostoevsky to Tolstoy, and he'd be very happy to explain to you why Crime and Punishment is his second favorite novel. He enjoys the study of languages, and likes to adopt archaic turns-of-phrase and say them. His current favorites are "like fun" (as opposed to "like hell"), and "For true" (a more pretentious way of saying "really", perhaps.)

Brief History: (please put at least 2 paragraphs) L was born to a woman named Sophie, the bastard son of a man he has never learned the name of. His mother named him "Luke" and loved him dearly, but was constantly hurt and troubled by his isolation and disinterest, and even aversion, to her motherly attention. He covered his ears when she sang lullabies, because every slightly off-key note was torture to a child with unidentified perfect pitch. He criticized her drawn smily faces for not being "perfect circles". He never knew what her face looked like because he was afraid to look her in the eyes, and could not stand to be touched, and he therefore could not tell his mother from Eve. Dealing with a brilliant but frustratingly autistic child became too much for Sophie to bear after Luke returned home from his first day of school in a police car, bruised and bloody, because he'd wandered away from the bus stop and into a bad part of the neighborhood, where the terrible things that can happen to a child alone had happened. He had managed to escape eventually through desperate cleverness, but Sophie knew that a normal life could never belong to her son. So, she put him in his car seat and played a cassette tape with ambient bells to soothe him to sleep before she purposely drove her car off a bridge in an attempt to kill both of them. She believed that all children went to heaven.

L woke up from a coma four years later, a medical fluke allowing him to communicate better and look people briefly in the eyes. The severity of his autism had diminished, and as a result, his genius was able to shine through fully for the first time. However, he was still a child, and still reliant on the help of others for even the simplest things, so he was taken into an orphanage for gifted children. It was soon established that he had a unique aptitude for problem-solving, mathematics, and logic, and it became apparent that he was going to be a great detective once his body caught up with his brain. However, some things about his psychological development were stunted, and he remained a child in many ways even after he looked like a man. His caretakers fretted about the liability of such a precious mind belonging to such a fragile set of circumstances, and agreed to keep his identity secret and his environment static while he solved the most difficult cases the world has ever known.

2008-11-01 09:43 pm UTC (link)
Brief History: Lust, originally Marlis Köhler, was born in New York City to first generation German immigrants. At least, according to her mother. Her father had never been present in her life and, truthfully, her mother wasn't exactly a trustworthy source. Not that she didn't believe that her mother had emigrated from Germany, she just had significant reason to doubt that her father wasn't some random drug trafficker, pimp, or just some guy her mother had slept with.

She'd been born towards the end of the crack epidemic in New York and while her mother hadn't likely been a user before her birth, she certainly became one soon after that. By the time she was eight, the majority of her knowledge rested in drug use- which she was under the impression was perfectly normal for an eight-year-old to know. When her mother was high on her drugs she would preach to the girl about how useful working as a prostitute was. The girl took every word in, never scared or shocked by her mother's words, but merely listened.

She very rarely attended school. Her mother, not being cruel but rather incredibly naive, thought she could learn better at home or on the streets with her. When the school caught on to the fact that there was clearly something wrong with her home life she was taken from her mother and placed in a foster family across the country in California.

She never had any specific problems with her foster family. The family she was placed in was probably one of the kindest that could have been found. Her new "parents" were a kind older couple who'd decided they wanted children later in life, but found themselves unable to have children. For her first three years with them she was generally a good kid, her grades normally averaging in the B range and she wasn't particularly rebellious- besides the typical teenage rebellion, of course.

When she was fifteen, though she looked much older than that, she began a relationship with a man whose first words to her were that she looked scarily similar to his brother's girlfriend. His next words informed her that both his brother and his brother's girlfriend were dead. Any other girl would have been scared off by this, but Lust had never exactly developed a proper understanding of love and relationships.

After that, her appearances at home became few and far between. Scar, the name of the man but she knew he hadn't given her his real name, insisted that she spend all of her time with him so that both could repent for their grievous sins. He was the one that began calling her 'Lust' and after she managed to get away from him, it took her over two years, the name stuck with her. Not knowing what else to do, she returned to her foster home pretending that she'd never been gone.

It wasn't long before she became too anxious to stay with them. She didn't want to stay in a place where she could have sworn Scar was constantly following her around. She left home and moved to San Francisco in hopes of finding something that would hold her attention for more than a few weeks. Throughout her few years in San Francisco she jumped from one strip club to the next, quickly growing bored with the "regulars" at each place.

When she was twenty she finally received her GED, though she has yet to do anything with it. She's not interested in going to college at the moment. In her mind it would only take time away from her job which would cause her to make less money. She isn't that concerned with value of the money she makes, but rather she enjoys the instant gratification that it gives her.

Character Info -
Name: Maya Fey
Age: 21
Portrayed By: Aoi Miyazaki -

College, Job, or Both: Paralegal

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Cartoons, video games, eating, ouija boards, tarot cards, ghost hunting, modding the Steel Samurai Fan Forums (SN: St33lS4mur4iR0x)

Brief History: Maya Fey is the second daughter of Misty Fey, a once celebrated 'psychic' who disappeared when Maya was young amidst a scandal involving a high-profile court case in which her predictions were proven to be wrong. Maya's father left even before that, unhappy with the matrifocal aspects of the religion that Maya and her family subscribed to. Maya was raised with a fairly unique religious outlook that came from a blend of various neo-pagan beliefs and practices. (As an aside, 'Fey' is her mother's family name - Her father was Japanese, and so she looks Asian, however, because of her family's religious focus on the female line, it was insisted that Maya and her sister be named Fey.)

Following her mother's disappearance, Maya lived with her aunt, Morgan Fey, and her little cousin, Pearl Fey. She also lived with her sister, Mia, until Mia moved to San Francisco to become a defense attorney. It is believed by some that Maya is honorbound to keep the traditions of her family's religion living strong, and she is expected to one day assume the role of 'Master' - A sort of high priestess type position. However, Morgan Fey believes that her own daughter, Pearl, would be much better suited to the position and secretly hates Maya.

When Mia left, Maya kept in close contact with her sister. They were very close before she left, and remained close despite the space between them. When Maya was finally finished with her homeschooling, she came to work as an assistant at the Fey & Co. Law Offices. She is now a certified paralegal, and, though she is loyal to her family's religion and traditions, would be happy to stay working with Mia and her junior, Phoenix Wright, for the foreseeable future.

Personality As a result of a somewhat sheltered life, Maya can be somewhat naive, but has an ability to keep up with current popular trends. She can be childish in a lot of ways, including, but not limited to, her love for cartoons and children's television programming. She is a devout fan of The Steel Samurai, and watches it and all of its spin-offs religiously. She has an insatiable appetite and a bit of mischievous streak, and hates dirty or messy places. She is terribly friendly and playful, and never passes up an opportunity to joke around and have fun.

Despite her naivete and the childish aspects of her personality, Maya is extremely loyal and can often be very down-to-earth. She would do anything for her friends, and is a serious optimist. Even when faced with the toughest of situations, she somehow manages to work her way through and come out with minimal damage. She takes strange occurances in stride, partly due to her superstitious upbringing and her interest in the occult, but also because that's just the way she is.

Role-playing Sample: Maya glanced up at the clock on the wall. 10:30... Time for a snack! She set her papers down and headed over to the small fridge they kept in the office, peering in to see what was available. Part of her duties around the office were to stock the fridge, and so it was full of all the yummy and delicious things she liked! She called over her shoulder to see if Mia and Phoenix wanted anything before she set to work fixing her own snack.

Let's see now... An apple? A cup of yogurt? No, no. She needed something more filling - Lunch wasn't until one today! Leftover mexican food? Or she could just eat her lunch and buy a burger when it came time for lunch... Yes! That was a great idea! She picked up the plastic Steel Samurai box and, after heating it up, wandered back to the desk.

Mm! Today's lunch/snack was a horrible mish mosh of various foods: Miso ramen in a thermos with plenty of pork fillet, a bag of Doritos, some octopus hot dogs, a pouch of fruit snacks, some grapes, some apple wedges, a stick of string cheese, a turkey and roast beef sandwich, a cup of carrots and ranch, and two cookies with sprinkles. Maya began to dig in eagerly, and soon, all of her snack was gone. She sighed happily, then packed up the box to take home and wash before getting back to work. That ought to tide her over until lunch time.

Extra Credit - (to help us gain insight into your character)
Pick Two songs for your Character:
Gyakuten Saiban Meets Orchestra 2008 - Ooedo Sensei TONOSAMAN no Uta (The Steel Samurai theme song). It's the theme song of her favorite television show, and the upbeat lyrics and melody fit Maya very well.

Mediaeval Baebes - Pearl. The song has a very upbeat meaning, and is based on reverance in nature, a common theme in most neo-pagan religions.

Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)? Social. Double underlined.

Any Notes for the Mods? oh hai.

College, Job, or Both: Mello is as professional boy genius and orphan. But he'd probably enroll in college if Near did, just to try and show him up.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities:Mello likes to play soccer, imagine owning his own motorcycle, kick people around, swear, and try to be much better than his rival Near. He tends to fail at that last one. Mello is not as smart Near or L, but he actually does have an excellent mind. He plays piano (badly), poker (extremely well), and can do a hilarious imitation of Celine Dion.

Brief History: (please put at least 2 paragraphs) Mello was born to a single feminist mother who brought him up telling him that men are evil and that women are oppressed. He was orphaned fully when his mother died of a cocaine overdose, but the fact that he was a boy genius quickly warranted notice from the benefactor of the same orphanage that reared L. There, he became the star pupil until another orphan, the analytical and serious Near, came and stole the limelight. Competitive and proud, Mello would rather choke on his own testicles than actually cooperate with Near.

Mello is shorter for a guy and lightly built, and he dresses chiefly in black leather. His face isn't bad looking, but he twists it into so many ugly expressions so often that he scares people. His hair is a sandy strawberry blond color, and he wears it in a blunt pageboy style that adds to his disturbingly androgynous appearance. He looks misleadingly cute, which throws people for a loop when they hear his foul mouth.

Personality Unapologetic and explicit, Mello is the type of guy parents hope their kid never grows up to be like. A lifelong bully and spiteful loose cannon, Mello is an attention-whore who savors the spotlight, and resents it when someone else is allowed to bask in it. He is vain and self-centered, liking his appearance and doting on his hair and nails especially. He's been known to indulge in all of the seven deadly sins excessively, believing that he is entitled to things most people have to work hard for and blaming others for his own shortcomings. However, he does work hard, himself; he's willing to do just about anything to achieve his goals, even moreso than L.

Mello, despite what he comes across as, is very straight. He loves women, especially mother figures, very much. He doesn't always treat females with respect, but he sees them as much nicer than men, who pretty much make a mess of the world. This might be why he plays up the feminine aspects of his character's appearance.

Role-playing Sample: (3rd person, at least 2 paragraphs)

Mello massaged his scalp, looking more peeved than genuinely frightened. He also had a tendency to "go with the flow," even if he didn't like where this looked like it was going.

"OOPH!" he doubled over, clutching his gut as Lucifer went all karate-kid on his punk ass. "Fuck you!" he wheezed past the booted heel applying sharp pressure on his poor tummy. "I... always feel pretty. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS...." he'd noticed, of course, that Lucifer changed from time to time, and some days he definitely looked better than on others.

(this part written by a different player)"You might want to check yourself out in the mirror more carefully in the mornings," Lucifer noted, scraping his sharp-soled boots against Mello's stomach. "You're starting to look under the weather."

He shoved Mello with that single boot, his expression and body language almost...lazy as he wondered what the blonde would slam into. Would he try to twist away and wind up on the floor? On his back or on his stomach? Would he land on the bed, causing it to squeak?

He wondered how much blood he could get out of Mello if he took his time with this.

"I'm the fucking David Carradine of checking myself out!" Mello groaned. "And at least I'm just starting... it's your goddamnn war, isn't it? Why should I give a fuck about that stupid trial? If we're in Hell, that means that we're the bad guys anyway, doesn't it?"

Mello defied all of Lucifer's predictions and slammed into a neatly stacked pile of chocolate bars. He had dragged them ALL back from Emptiness. "Oh, NOW you've done it, Fuckballs," he growled, picking up one of many broken bars. He hurled it at Lucifer, following it with a pelting of others.

Extra Credit - Mello plays to win, and always wants to be the best. :D Despite his apparently huge ego, he's actually got an inferiority complex.
Pick Two songs for your Character:

Cake- "The Distance", because of the songs driving, competitive nature
MIA- "Paper Planes", because it's full of gunshots and it rolls with the punches and it's kind of cocky!

Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)? He's social enough to like being around people. Whether your character likes his in-your-face obsceneness is up to him or her.

Any Notes for the Mods? Pleeeease let me play Mello here. :p

Character Info -
Name: Asuma Sarutobi
Age: 29
Portrayed By: Gerard Butler Here

College, Job, or Both: He works at the San Fransisco Fire Department.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: He enjoys playing chess which he is pretty good at. He exercises; his favorite workout is boxing. And he does enjoy a few cigarettes a day.

Brief History:

Asuma grew up in a middle class home in San Fransisco with a father who seemed to have too many rules, to many lessons to learn and a mother who only lived in photographs and distant memories. Because of this and a few other so called injustices during his teenage years, his relationship with his father became more than a little strained causing him to stay away from home as much as possible. He never got into much trouble while away because he was always in the gym. Up until he graduated high school, if Asuma wasn't at home, he was in some boxing ring working on his skills or earning a few dollars.

He met Kurenai, the girl who would change his life near the end of high school. They started out as friends, but quickly moved on to something more. He was in love with her, even though no one really knew it but the two of them, and Asuma knew he needed to think of something to keep her after they both graduated. He came up with a plan that wasn't exactly fail-safe -- boxing. It would give them both money, but it also meant he would have to travel away from her often.

During one trip to Las Vegas in 1998, Asuma signed a contract to fight. It was done hastily and, therefore, wasn't read clearly. The deal turned out to be a bad one and one he needed to get away from. After seeing an ad for the U.S. Marines, he found his answer and soon shipped out for basic training without a word to Kurenai.

It wasn't until two years later that he surfaced in San Fransisco ready to fix the mistake he made when he cut off all contact. Asuma found her a the university she had told him about years ago and, after explanations and voiced hurts, they decided to try it all over again without the mistake. He even started going to school for fire science. Everything was going great. He even started talking to his father again, something that stopped after he graduated high school and he moved in with some friends. But everything changed when he was called back for duty after the President announced the War on Terrorism. This time, however, he kept in touched with Kurenai and his father.

But fate and a terrorist group broke all communications once again. It was two years before Asuma, almost dead, found his way back into Uncle Sam. The details of his adventure were sketchy no matter how many officers asked. The only thing he knew was most of his friends were dead, something he was supposed to be. He was honorably discharged after being sent home. Instead of making his way back to Kurenai and his father, he made his way to New York City and finished his degree in fire science. It wasn't until June 2008, after his four year apprenticeship that he decided to stop being a coward and go back home.

It wasn't a happy homecoming. There, he learned his father passed away. Also, he saw first hand the first woman he loved was moving on with her life. Even though his life never went according to plan, it did give him the chance to learn his father's lessons on his own and that was the only way to get him to understand.

Personality

Asuma is serious when it comes to work. When he's out on the job, he is professional and will do everything in his power to come back successful. He will not stand for others to get hurt when he's on or off duty; he cares for everyone he works with. In the past, he has been hard on those who work under him when he knew they could do a better job. His job, his career, is important to him. It gives him and his father something to be proud of.

His job isn't the only important part of his life though. His friends are just as important. His unwillingness to see his friends get hurt follows him here as well. But Asuma wouldn't be called a saint by any means. He is flawed by insecurities and emotions that many don't get to see. Unless someone studied him, it would be hard to see exactly what he was feeling. Although, it isn't hard to notice that he will stop smoking when he's under some kind of heavy emotional stress, like when he returned from war.

Overall, Asuma is easy going. When there is time, he'll rest and take in a game or twenty of chess. And on nights off he'll head to his favorite bar with a bunch of his friends to tell "war stories" over a pitcher of beer.

Role-playing Sample:

There were only two people behind the counter of the store that day and only one of them seemed to be working exclusively at the cash register. As he watched the woman check out the customer in front of him, nothing seemed out of place, but very slowly Asuma began to realize something, began to figure out that he had seen that woman before. The feeling wasn't a happy one, so he knew he hadn't met her randomly at a bar, a party, or some other place where he would have felt excited to be at. Then, with a flash of an orange book cover in the corner of his eyes, he remembered...

"Hell..." said one of his coworkers as he walked past Asuma who was still breathing heavily. He quickly turned his head and nodded. It was hell in there. He couldn't understand how anyone was still alive, but there she was, lying unconcious and waiting for the ambulance to take her away.

"Good job," said someone behind him. Asuma shrugged off the compliment. Honestly, he sort of hated when he received a compliment for doing what he was supposed to. Compliments were reserved for happy accidents. This wasn't one and it didn't feel right being praised for only being able to find one person.

You could have done better, he thought. The voice that sounded like his father was so loud he almost thought other people could hear the words that always shot from his old man's mouth years and years ago. They ended up being the words that finally stuck and brought Asuma back to San Francisco.

He turned away from the screaming ambulance as it pulled away. He didn't need to think about that now. Now it was time to continue fighting the fire...

A hand touched his back and Asuma stopped thinking about the night he first met the woman in front of him. "Next?"

"How are you today?" she asked him as he stepped up.

"Good. You?"

"Pretty good, actually." She was smiling. It made him smile too, but, mostly, the smile made him more determined. There were bigger fires in his future and more lives he could save if he turned out to be half the man his father thought he could be.

Player Info -
Name: Azilie
Age: 18
Personal Journal: sniperriza
AIM/Email: hogosha01@aol.com or hogosha_1@yahoo.com
Timezone: EST

Character Info -
Name: Riza Hawkeye
Age: 28
Portrayed By: Claire Danes

College, Job, or Both: Job - First Lieutenant in Special Forces.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Reading romance novels, drawing, martial arts and walking her dog.

Brief History: Hawkeye has always had the troubled childhood that would rather be buried in the closet and forgotten forever. Her mother died when she was young, leaving her to cope with her father, who was a prominent scientist for biological research. With her father always away in his labs or in meetings with officials, Riza was, more often than not, left to fend for herself. Through high school, she was the one left to pay bills and worry about the financial situations of the house while her father worked himself to exhaustion day after day in his effort to “rid the world of suffering through scientific marvels”. Her fathers obsession with his research made him catalogue it into secret codes that only he would understand, but in turn, it made him paranoid. This paranoia was brought down on Hawkeye when, after a supposed attempt on her fathers life by a co-worker, he tattooed his medical research to his daughters back so no one would find it. Her father died a week later from an embolism and the shock of finding out his research was not meant to cure disease but to be used as weapons in war.
Riza was left on her own from that moment on.
Hawkeye went on to college for a degree in criminal justice and forensics, which she juggled with multiple part time jobs to just afford the classes. In her final year of classes, during her shift at the local bookstore, a petty thief attempted to rob the store at gun point. Hawkeye was shot in the back of her left shoulder by the thief in her attempt to apprehend him. The attempt was successful however, landing her her first job after college in the local police department in Chicago. She rose steadily through the ranks and had recently been accepted into the Special Task Force of the Chicago PD. The position didn’t last long as she was soon transferred to the San Francisco branch of the Task Force.

Personality: Hawkeye is a more reserved and quiet person than most. She has some difficulty getting to know new people because she’s so withdrawn and because most people think her to be a snob. It’s the main reason she clocks overtime in at work so she can avoid unnecessary social interactions.
To her co-workers, she’s a rough and tough no nonsense tomboy. To everyone else…well…there really isn’t anyone else. She tries to not get close to people so she doesn’t get attached. In her opinion, if you want to get attached to something, get a pet. Reason one why she has a dog.

From Chicago to San Fransisco - Riza Hawkeye part II
[info]sniperriza
2009-01-05 09:31 am UTC (link)
Role-playing Sample: “Alpha, this is Delco. Copy?” The mic crackled softly in the blonds ear. She let her eyes roam around the crowded street from her position in one of the towering buildings surrounding the area. Burgundy eyes narrowed slightly as she pulled away from the scope of her rifle. The city of Chicago was covered in a gray haze that blanketed the air in a suffocating funk. Smog today, rain tomorrow…The sniper sighed. Sunlight was a commodity lately it seemed. And not one that would be seen any time soon.
She looked into the rifle scope again, moving the weapon in a slow sweep of the street below. Cars putted around slowly in the mid afternoon traffic, horns honking and driver ranting in irritation at the delays. Pedestrians and street vendors yelled right back, a few deciding flipping the drivers off sent a clearer message. The blond shook her head.
“Delco. Alpha here. What’s your status?”
The blond raised the rifle up, the zoomed image she had through the scope giving her an overly detailed view of the building across the street and the office terrorist within. A man with pale brown hair nervously strutted around an office conference room, baggy cargo pants scuffed from being dragged so frequently. He waved an M1 Carbine in the air, its folding stock glinting in the hazed light. The hostages coward on the floor, hiding under chairs or their upraised hands. Riza’s eyes narrowed. Idiot wasn’t even holding the gun the right way.
“Delco. Status report.”
The blond steadied her rifle, staring through the scope.
“Clear shot Alpha. One assailant. Male. Mid thirties. Seven hostages. I don’t see any casualties but the assailant seems agitated. Orders?”
The com link gave a harsh crackle in her ears making her grimace in distaste. One would think a Special Task Force would have better equipment, she grumbled to herself, the com link crackling again, distorting the deep baritone that came out of the receiver.
“Ta…..shot…opy Delco? …the..sho…”
She didn’t need to be told twice. The sniper sighted down the rifle barrel and took a breath, holding it as she brought the terrorist into her sights. Her finger hovered over the trigger for a second, then the weapon gave a soft bark. The stock jerked into her shoulder once, then twice, another bark from the rifle echoing in her ears. Empty shells glistened next to her boots and small trails of smoke floated out of the rifles barrel.
“Delco…arget. Wha…pened…tar..t?”
Riza lowered the gun, glancing up at the building across the way where a terrorist lay fallen on the office floor in a pool of shattered glass and blood.
“Target is down. Area and hostages secure. Its all your’s Alpha.” The blond crawled to one side of her snipers nest, disassembling the rifle to return it to its case.
“And Alpha? Invest in some new equipment, will you? Soup cans and string would be better than the crackles and pops this gear gives.”
The baritone on the other end of the com gave a distorted laugh.

Extra Credit - (to help us gain insight into your character)
Pick Two songs for your Character:
“Blow Me Away” - Breaking Benjamin
“ Decode” - Paramore
Blow Me Away is a gag song her co-workers put on her and it stuck.
Decode, however, is a personal song that reminds her a lot of her old life and how one must learn from their mistakes and misgivings and try not to hide behind a mask everyday of her life.
Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)? She’s a more guarded person - careful about who she associates herself with outside of a professional level.

Character Info -
Name: Gin Ichimaru
Age: 25
Portrayed By: Ruki from the GazettE

College, Job, or Both: Officially, works as Aizen's assistant/bodyguard. Unofficially, he handles Aizen's negotiations and dirty work with gangs, mafia, Yakuza, and, of course, killings.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: ...."keeping the peace", cleaning his guns, taking walks.... He also likes to watch people, observe. He's fascinated by them.

Brief History:

Gin was born in Japan, but only stayed there for a few years in his life. His father brought his family over in search for a job, but his time in American were just as hard. This often made him angry which he took out on his wife and son. His mother was a kind woman, too kind for her own good. Gin would watch his mother get beaten instead of watching TV like most kids. There was only one time when he decided to try and save his mother. By eleven, Gin had watched and studied how his father worked enough times that he thought he could take his father on. Gin used a knife while his father used fists. The battle to save his mother was a bloody one, but the outcome was victorious. His mother stopped screaming to find Gin over his father's body and smiling.

His mother took the rap for him and pleaded self defense. She didn't have to spend any time in jail and as soon as everything was over, she moved them both to San Fransisco to start over again. Her new start didn't last long. She died a year later, sending Gin into a group home at the age of thirteen.

He was placed in a foster home twice, but was sent back, once because he tortured the beloved family cat. At the group home, he kept to himself and never enjoyed playing the games the other kids wanted to play. Instead, he would go out, find the big kids and join in their fun. Nothing was too serious, he made sure to get away before any cops showed up. Except once. Neither of the two people involved ever said anything about what happened. One, the one who was worse for the wear, seemed too frightened to do much of anything and the other just smiled. Because there was blood on his hand when the police found him, he was taken in.

Gin was fifteen when he went to what they told him was a rehabilitation center. It was something to help stop him from going in the wrong direction. He was only ordered to spend a year there, so at sixteen he left and was placed back into the group home. If the people who lived and work there weren't scared of him before he left, they were now. It was all hilarious to Gin. It wasn't like he just happened to snap, he planned everything he did. But, anyway, he moved on, jumping back into his old ways, making sure to keep the things he did private.

It was was two years later when his life brought him to Aizen. The politician was running for office and Gin happened to catch him on TV. He was immediately enamored with the man. There was something in Aizen's eyes that appealed to Gin, that made him look as though he would rather be doing something else instead of kissing babies. He wanted to meet this man and he got his chance, saving him from some unruly citizen. They were able to have a short conversation where Gin let Aizen know exactly what he offered. Six months later, Gin was hired for his services under the guise of bodyguard.

Ever since then, Gin has never left the man's side unless he is off on a business trip. The term bodyguard no longer fully describes his duty. Assistant is his title now even if he doesn't know all the complete inner workings of political society. There is just something about having street smarts that is just as good as having the book smarts.

Personality

Gin is unemotional. His eyes are cold. Sometimes, or most of the time depending on the way you see him, he looks as thought he is staring right through you. He sort of is. He's trying to study you and what he learns, he'll use later if the situation calls for it. His smile is cold. It makes people uneasy. Most people stay away from him just because of that smile. Where most people hate the sight of blood, Gin is drawn to it. He likes to get his hands dirty. It's soothing. You could say the man is insane.

Gin still has somewhat of a human side. He is polite and will speak to someone as if they deserve every last morsel of respect even if they don't. This can come off creepy, though. He has been known to care about people as can be seen in the way he looks up to Aizen. The politician is someone he could say without a doubt that he would never hurt. This fact will not come out of his lips, though. Like most humans, he doesn't want others to think he has weaknesses.

Role-playing Sample:

Blood dripped off the knife as he stood over the body trying to catch his breath. Aizen wasn't going to like this. He was told to go here to negotiate and negotiate wasn't one of Aizen's code words for hurt. But it was hard to talk to someone who was running toward you with the intent to harm your very soul. Gin was just protecting his life. He would never harm someone for the fun of it.

He laughed to himself and dropped the knife onto the body when he heard his phone ring. The person on the other line told him a story about Aizen being shot once he answered it. The whole thing seemed unbelievable, but he thanked the person for the news just the same. Hanging up the phone, he looked at the two men still standing near their leader. "I have ta go. Looks like my boss knows tha deal ain't goin' through. See ya!"

Gin turned around and walked through the two other people who only seemed to come to watch as they offered no support when it was needed. He could hear the other two run over to their boss to check if everything was fine. The frantic calling would usually give him some sort of pleasure, but his smile faded instead. Pulling out a small handkerchief, Gin wiped the blood that had already started drying to his cheek. He was going to find out if this story was true. If it was, he was sure as hell going to find out who did this to his boss and make sure he got the same fate. No one messed with Aizen when Gin was around.

Character Info -
Name: Rin
Age: 16 going on 17 (her birthday would be the day I start playing her)
Portrayed By: I can't decide: Ellen Page or Inoue Mao. The last name will be chosen after the PB is chosen.

College, Job, or Both: At this point in time she does not have a job and she is not in school.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Origami. She likes to make paper flowers to carry with her where ever she goes. When she was younger, she played baseball and softball and took voice lessons. She still hums to herself when she's alone.

Brief History:

For the first ten years of her life, Rin was the normal child of two normal parents who lived in a normal house in San Fransisco. Then everything changed. A month before her eleventh birthday, a couple of guys broke into her house, not realizing anyone was home. But the family was and that scared the men enough to go after them with a gun. The last advice her mother gave her was to be quiet and stay out of sight no matter what happened.

It seemed as though she took this advice to heart. She never went to get help since she always thought the two men were behind her, waiting to do the same thing to her as they did to her parents. A silent Rin stayed hidden within the other homeless that littered certain streets and alleyways. It took a couple of years, but she learned not everyone wanted to bring her harm and slowly started to trust people again. Her voice accidentally returned when she was fifteen thanks to an old man who took her under his wing and taught her the ins and outs of a society she was destined to stay a part of.

This man taught her how to earn a few dollars without begging and he also taught her how to break into houses. At first, she was reluctant to take part in it, but he explained it in such a way that she started to believe it was okay. It also helped that all she ever saw him take from a house was food. The man she thought of as her grandfather taught her more than just how to steal food from people who had too much of it, he taught her how to live in both the society they were in but also the society he knew she should be in. He still had more to say, she knew, but he never got a chance. He died in on a frosty morning in mid October. After mourning the man, Rin started finding herself more in shelters around the city than next to concrete buildings. She was happy she met this man, but she didn't want to end her life the way he did, huddled inside a box house with scraps found in a dumpster.

Even though it has only been a few months since his death, it has already been a long journey. She is still silent to those who are new which makes it hard to get the help she wants and being almost seventeen, Rin feels her time is running out. She is not dumb and knows people won't help her once she stops being a kid. It has just hard for her to find the right people out there to open up to.

Personality

Rin has gone through many personalities since she was born. She started out as a happy child, always talking, always singing. Sometimes she could be annoying and, when she was old enough, some of the kids in school would tell her so, but any name calling, things thrown at her, people pushing her down would never crush her spirit. In fact, she would sometimes fight back.

That all changed when her family was killed. She became scared of everyone, became suspicious of anything and everything. She became silent and didn't want to sing since it reminded her of her family and the happy times that were gone.

Rin knew she had to start trusting someone or she was going to die, something she was just as much afraid of. So, she started hanging around the people she knew wasn't going to hurt her. These people, on in particular, gave her hope that not everyone is evil. Her eyes began to show some happiness and her voice came back but only for that one person. At this time, when she was alone, she even started humming.

Even though she has been through a lot, she wants to go back to the happiness she felt when she was a kid and is very optimistic that she will. She is also very positive that she will not be on the streets for the rest of her life. All her fighting energy has now been put into doing something better with her life to make everyone proud of her. But that doesn't mean she has no doubts. She is still scared and jumps from certain noises from time to time, but it she hasn't been afraid of those men from her past for a while now.

Role-playing Sample:

She picked a random place to go in, just like all the other times. She hated doing this and if she could, she would make it right, but she couldn't other than leaving a note. And who wanted to come home to a note saying the ham left in the fridge was eaten by someone who broke into the house to do just that. Leave a note or not, it wasn't great karma. It still meant the owners of the place were being robbed.

Rin walked over to the fridge from the patio door that was a little harder than normal to get into. She caught her reflection in the glass of a picture hanging on the wall along the way. Her face was dirty which made her look sad, tired. She needed washed. This meant it was time to go to a shelter for the night. Usually getting clean was enough to make her smile brighten up and make her feel better. Rin didn't know if it was going to happen this time. The whole thing was getting old. She put a smile on her face. It didn't reach her eyes

Rin shook her head while opening the fridge. There was nothing in there but a few beers, water, and a few fruits and vegetables. This wasn't the house she should have picked. She took out the carrots and water then hunted the cabinets for bread or even cereal. Judging by the lack of food she already came across, there wasn't going to be much.

"What are you doing?" a loud voice asked behind her. Her heart began to race and she dropped the food on the counter, letting some of it fall to the floor. The feeling of flight shot to her legs and she ran toward her left to the patio door. She only got a few feet when she heard him say he had a gun. Being shot was the last thing she wanted, the last thing her mother wanted so she did what he said and stopped.

Name: Anko Mitarashi
Fandom: Naruto
Age: 27
Portrayed By: Kristen Kreuek - http://hollow-art.com/base/kristin-kreuk

College, Job, or Both: Job. Anko's on loan from the San Francisco branch of the FBI to give a hand where needed with all of the unsolved murders and other major crimes that have yet to been solved. Just don't ask how she managed this particular assignment and no one will get hurt, ok? Ok.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Extracurricular barhopping is always a good time. For all of her outward A.D.D. and outgoing personality, she is a very smart and well-read person. She enjoys reading and her quiet downtime as much as being out there and the center of attention. She has many different interests to keep her busy when she's not focused on harassing the nearest breathing human, it's difficult to pinpoint all of them since she tends to fly by the moment.

Brief History: Anko's early years are ones that she would prefer not to remember, not because they were necessarily bad but just because she was so alone. Raised in an orphanage until she was ten, there was nothing that stood out that made her early childhood worth remembering. She wasn't mistreated or uncared for, there was just only so much attention that the nuns could spread between all of the children. Her birth parents were anomalies, there was nothing left for her to try and learn about where she came from, even though she would try numerous times over the years. It certainly helped when she was adopted a few months shy of her 12th birthday, taken in by the Mitarashi family, a couple who had turned to adoption after years of no luck having children of their own. She moved to San Fransico for her troublesome teenaged years, just in time to meet a few people who would be (un)fortunate to find themselves considered her closest friends for many years to come.

There wasn't any particular reason that after graduation Anko entered into the police academy, aside from it seemed like a good idea at the time. Aside from her first few disastrous days that ended in more laps ran around the whole of the campus then she'd like to admit to, Anko thrived in the academy - not counting the random headbutts from time to time due to her dislike of taking orders. The few incidents aside, she somehow managed to graduated from the academy in the top 3% of her class, even receiving an offer to come out to Washington D.C. for a chance to study and train to join in with the F.B.I. on the recommendation that surprisingly came from the Lieutenant she had developed a begrudging respect/hate relationship with over the duration of her training. Even if it meant being alone again, Anko couldn't help but eagerly grab up such an awesome opportunity.

It hadn't been an easy walk through the park by any stretch of the imagination, but eventually she made it through. She served out a few interesting years in D.C. in the heart of things, but politics weren't exactly to her taste and on sheer chance she had happened to catch an interoffice memo making it's way through advertising an opening back in her old stomping grounds.

As if she could pass up such an opportunity.

Personality Even though she's an adult, Anko is the personification of that bad influence your parents always warned you about. She often acts without thinking, much to her detriment and that of those who she's managed to rope in with her. She's very much a hypocrite in the fact that despite she doesn't always respect those with a higher authority, she demands that everyone respects hers and if you don't, there will only be hell to pay. Trainees that have had the misfortune to train under her (the ones that make it through, anyway), are almost always at the top of their game, so she's apparently doing something right in her habit of terrorizing those of lower rank.

Despite her hardassed exterior, she is extremely protective of those close to her (a big softie if you're brave enough to listen to the rumors. Just never say it to her face). Even if she's the one who pulled them in along with her on some wild adventure, she'll take the fall long before allowing anyone else to suffer if she likes you enough. Anko loves a good time, and has a very broad range of what falls under her 'fun as hell' category, usually things that most would never think of doing without her.

Role-playing Sample:
She couldn't believe this shit.

So what if that bastard Hines couldn't take a joke, did it really mean that she was going to have to suffer through another indefinite reassignment to work with the local cops? Anyone else just got desk duty for a few weeks, but not her. Oh no. Apparently when she was ordered to desk duty the rest of the paper pusher didn't exactly care to listen to her persistent whining about the unfairness of it all, nor did they appreciate her restlessness that only gave way to new and interesting ways to try and amuse herself.

Which was exactly why Hines was still storming through the offices with a rather raw looking ear and cheek from where the phone had been connected. How could she have known she had mistaken a tube of superglue for the small tube of black gun oil that would have stained his hair and skin nicely? It wasn't her fault the manufacturers packaged them so similarly.

Perhaps next time he would think twice before picking up the damned thing to dial her desk and ask her how that report was coming. Even though now her report had been passed along to someone else seconds before her commander was hollering for her to come into his officer. She'd had enough manila folders flung at her in such a manner that as soon as she had seen it in his hands she knew what was coming.

"Where am I going this time?", she sighed dejectedly, opening the folder to see the details of this latest assignment.

Extra Credit - (to help us gain insight into your character)
Pick Two songs for your Character: Perhaps I'll do this later, I've knocked this thing out, that's about all I'm good for at the moment XD
Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)? She's very social, but she lets very few people into her inner circle.

Any Notes for the Mods? ♥?

Name: Ulquiorra Schiffer
Age: 28
Portrayed By: Glenn Quinn

College, Job, or Both: Stanford-School of Business, part time serial killer/sociopath, photographer, professional business assistant

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Listening to classical music and opera, bonsai, photography,… occasional murder.

Brief History: [On Last Names: Schiffer is his father’s last name. His father is white. His mother is Hispanic. Strongly so. Hence the strange non Mexican last name and pasty white boy PB.]

The birth could not have come on a more inauspicious day; November 1st, Dia de los Angelitos “The Day of the Little Angels”. While the name conjured thoughts in the heads of the ill informed of plump cherubs, its actual meaning to the Mexican families that celebrated it was of a far grimmer nature. It was the day set aside to remember deceased children and infants.
The dead do not forgive. The dead do not forget. These are the words uttered by his maternal abuela when he was delivered into her arms for the first time. It was her belief that one of the spirits roaming freely on the earthly plane during “the Dia de los Muertos” had come over her daughter and entered into the baby giving birth to the fleshly incarnation of the vengeful deceased.

In order to prevent the intrinsic evil from overtaking her beloved and only grandson, Abuela Rosalita prayed every day to all her saints and endeavored to instill in young Ulquiorra a fear and respect for the Christian God who was the only hope for saving his soul. His first spoken words were prayers. And hours were spent in forceful contemplation of the familial crucifix and the suffering sorrowful figure of Christ, whose blood purified, and purged all wickedness from mankind.

Ever dutiful, and painfully shy, quiet, and plain, Ulquiorra lead a sheltered childhood, attending Catholic school, receiving is sacraments, and doing little to stand out. It would appear that his grandmother’s prayers had not gone unheeded. However, living where they did, in the downtown Detroit “projects”, the evils of the world could not be held at bay forever.

Gang wars were prevalent and their members uncaring of innocent civilians that just happened to get caught in the middle of their frequent and violent expressions of hate. His grandmother was a victim. On her way from the grocery store with a store bought cake for her grandson, she refused to give up the monetary contents of her purse to a group of local thugs. It resulted in aggravated assault that ended in a death by knife wound.

This brought Ulquiorra’s fragile world crashing down. Gone was the spiritual center of his life, the only person able to keep the evils of the world at a safe distance. Gone was the guide who had told him for so long how to live his life. This simply could not be. The logic did not compute. How could common street trash end the existence of someone so close to God?

Unless there was no God. God would not allow for this filth. The God he knew was compassionate. A savoir. Not a spiritual entity that demanded a sacrifice of innocent blood. Because of his grandmother’s death, he refused to become Confirmed, denying a life long service to the Christian god.

Instead his thoughts turned to revenge and retribution for the filth that had destroyed that most dear to him. He became obsessed with the origins of his birthday, and the reasons why his grandmother had seen his birth as such an ill portent. Perhaps his existence was the reason all this had ever happened. This blossomed into a devotion to the service of Mictlantecuhtli [No I DON’T know how to pronounce this. And NO I did NOT make it up], the Aztec god of the dead, and judge of all souls. Here was a god fit to serve, well suited to be the guarantor of his revenge, a god whose prayers were written in human blood and bone.

[A side note about Mictlantecuhtli-as a reference to Ulquiorra and for myself to look at later: Worship of this particular god was believed to entail acts of cannibalism, and he was often depicted wearing a skull-like mask and a necklace of human eyeballs. I thought it was an interesting “hollow-esque reference with a little nod to Ulqui’s whole eyeball fetish. Sorry for being so random. !]

Within the next few years the small gang, dubbed “El Guapo” by the Detroit Police Department, seemed to disappear from the scene entirely. The murderer was considered to be a sociopathic vigilante. However, because the murders happened to be to the benefit of a close knit community, long plagued by the delinquency of “El Guapo”, witnesses were not forthcoming with information leading to the implication of the perpetrator, believing such action to be with just cause. And so the police were simply left to clean up the scenes of some of the most bloody and ruthlessly efficient murders in gang war history.

There were two traits similar at all scenes.
1.Saint Statues
2.The victims were missing their eyes.

Name: Naraku Onigumo
Fandon: Inuyasha
Age: 38
Portrayed By: Michael Wincott

College, Job, or Both: Drug trafficking. Former entrepreneur (owner of the now non-existent Onigumo Coffee Company) until his illegal activities were discovered and he was forced to leave town.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Reading, drinking, sex, drugs, and (why not?) rock ‘n roll.

Brief History: Actually born as John Westin, Naraku took his name from his interest in three things: the Japanese language, Hell, and spiders. Ever since watching his older brother die on the road after being hit by a car, Naraku has had an unhealthy obsession with death and pain. After the passing of his brother, Naraku’s mother fatally overdosed on her “happy pills,” causing his father to suddenly “find Jesus.” His inexplicable decision led Naraku to believe that religion was a concept created to comfort those who are too weak to accept pain.

Naraku attended the relatively nearby Mishima University and while on a study abroad trip to Japan, he made some rather interesting “friends.” It was with the help of his newfound comrades that he began peddling illegal wares in the small college town, branching out to affect (or infect) most of California with his goods. After graduating, he pulled some strings and set up The Onigumo Coffee Co. His coffee beans came from and shipped to all over the world, most crates containing a little “something extra,” depending upon the supply and demand of his contacts.

His coffee company was successful for some time, as were his less legal business operations. Knowing that having friends in high places could prove to be beneficial, he often assisted a young politician named Sousuke Aizen in matters of finance, publicity, and… an undisclosed “miscellaneous.” His discretion and his contacts helped him maintain a successful lifestyle despite his perverse interests. That is, until he caught the eye of a man known only as “L.”

Much has been rumored about L, enough to make Naraku know that his current lifestyle was no longer secure. Leaving no word with any of his employees or other contacts, he sold his company and left town, hiding in various locations throughout the world. His infamy worked against him, however, and he felt the police closing in on him much more quickly and much more often than before.

Not knowing where else to turn, Naraku decided to redeem all of his favors for Aizen and is returning to San Francisco. Though most of his assets are frozen, Naraku still has enough clout to be able to influence Aizen to pull some strings and grant him clemency within the city. He could rebuild his small but powerful empire, and in return offer to make Aizen a political force to be reckoned with. That is, if Aizen agrees to help him.

Naraku application, part two
[info]miroku_okinawa
2009-02-25 06:52 am UTC (link)
Personality: Naraku is a connoisseur when it comes to pleasures of the flesh. Whether it’s as innocent as nice clothes and expensive food or as drastic as experimental drugs and kinky sex, he’s in for anything that guarantees sensual pleasure. He’s a bit of a sadist, but he doesn’t enjoy killing. It complicates things, and he’ll only kill if he’s certain he can get away with it or if there’s no other choice. But torture and kidnapping? Sure, no problem. He’ll even find some way to convince the victims that it was their fault, thus granting him a certain level of security.

Primarily, though, he’s a businessman. He rarely makes a move unless it will ultimately get him something he wants, and he believes that everything and everyone can be compromised or bought. He does have something of a darkly quirky sense of humor, which always seems to make people think that he’s more lighthearted than he lets on. He’s not.

Role-playing Sample: “Black widows are fascinating creatures, you know,” Naraku quietly told the young blindfolded girl handcuffed to the radiator in his shop’s basement. “They mate, they feed, and they kill… all at the same time.” He looked into the jar in his hands, tapping a finger along the side as the large spider crept along the bottom. “And yet the males of the species continue to allow themselves to be served up in a reproductive buffet line. What do you think of that?”

He crouched besides her as she softly asked to be released, her voice a wavering mewl. A small smile danced on his lips as he leaned in close besides her. “I think they like it,” he whispered in her ear. “I think they spend their entire, short lives waiting for that moment of release, knowing that they will be dominated in the ultimate way. There’s something about spiders that seem to thrive on pain, wouldn’t you agree? And when you really think about it, aren’t humans the same way? Isn’t that why you came to me?” Twisting off the top of the jar, he breathed, “Isn’t it because you want to be… dominated?”

The girl screamed, feeling the spider fall on top of her bare skin. Naraku chuckled as she flailed about as best as she could, given her restraints. He wasn’t without humor, after all. The spider was nothing more than a harmless tarantula, its fangs extracted long ago. He wouldn’t subject the girl to venom before he had the chance to have his fun. And judging by the wild efforts she made to rid herself of the arachnid, Naraku could judge that she would provide him with more than enough fun to last the night.

Extra Credit -
Pick Two songs for your Character: “Hell in a Handbasket” by Voltaire, as it’s pretty much Naraku’s point of view in regards to religion and morality. Especially the last verse, which states, “We both know Hell don’t exist except in the minds of the poor fools who believe.”

“Don’t Fear the Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult. Because while Naraku doesn’t want to die, he doesn’t fear death.

Bonus: “The Last Word” by Voltaire Because I think that, if we’re going in the direction I think we might, it’d be apt. ”Far be it for I to leave all this beauty behind. I will stay to watch you wither away. And with any luck, you may be hit by a truck. And I will remain to dance upon your grave.”

Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)?
Anti-social. There are very, very few people that he trusts, and he isn’t one to hide that. He’s always willing to make new “friends,” but he’s rather blunt about the fact that there’s next to no one in his inner circle.

Any Notes for the Mods? Some of the backstory is the same as it was before, save for the stuff I’ve updated for plotting purposes. And my RP sample is exactly the same… because I’m lazy. Whoops. XD

Izuru Kira [Part II]
[info]echoinautumn
2009-03-01 03:07 am UTC (link)
Brief History: (please put at least 2 paragraphs) Izuru Kira was a good kid; had always been a good kid. Even growing up, he was the quiet child whose parents were generally envied for his lack of bad behavior. The tragedy that claimed his parents’ lives (the details were never really discussed, but rumor had it that the senior Kira had been involved in darker things than his the sparkling exterior of a well-off politician suggested) had come too early in Izuru’s life for him to really understand it. The suddenly orphaned five-year-old was shuffled between various faint relatives for a month before finally settled in his paternal grandfather’s care. He was still a good kid; never gave his grandfather any trouble when he could help it, always minded what he was told, and always studied hard. His remaining family encouraged him how they could, but they were generally uninterested in the boy’s life, getting too caught up in their own lives. It wasn’t their own fault, just the circumstances of things. Izuru’s grandfather was firm, but never irrational. It was hard for the young boy not to take some sort of his grandfather’s characteristics and make them his own.

When he was seventeen, his grandfather was the one to die. Seeing as there were only a few short months before his eighteenth birthday and subsequent high school graduation, Izuru went through the channels for emancipation from his family. It was easier for him to take care of himself than to bother his relatives for the remaining few months. The sole heir to both his parents and grandparents—the only child of only children—Izuru inherited an enormous sum of money, a home of his own, and the remaining influences of his life with his grandfather. He enrolled at Mishima University for the following Fall and buried himself in the last months before his high school graduation and the last summer before he was to begin college.

Upon his entrance into college, Izuru was determined to hit the ground running. He had given in and enrolled in a few summer classes the summer before his first full semester, though mostly out of nerves and a desire to do something in interim before Fall classes officially began. It was in this time that he nurtured a long-entertained love for literature and writing in particular. Though he had already indicated his desire to declare Biochemistry and Pre-Med as his major course studies, he felt a wonderful calm every time he put pen to paper for creative purposes rather than the endless scientific calculations, observations, and all the other required necessities for his science concentration. After joining the University’s Honors program, the next thing Izuru did was join the Literary Club, where he devoted himself completely, despite the rigorous schedule he had given himself.

Since then, Izuru has given himself completely over to the various activities he spreads himself over—his internship, part time job with the Writing Center, the various activities in his honor societies, and his clubs—though the strain of spreading himself too thin is beginning to show. The dark circles under his eyes are getting dark enough to be noticed, and there are days he can be found passed out over a reference book in the library for not sleeping properly the night before. More often than not, Izuru has been known to forget meals, pull all-nighters in the library, and forgo going home for several consecutive days during the weeks surrounding midterms and finals. Still, his grades haven’t suffered—not that he would allow that to happen anyway—and he hasn’t missed a single entry in his datebook.

Not yet, at least.

Name: Hitsugaya Toushiro
Fandom: Bleach
Age: 18
Portrayed By: (who is your character's model, please link to or include a picture if you can) Lee Donghae from Super Junior

College, Job, or Both: (if college include major and year, if job include where.)
Sophomore third year as he skipped grades. Doing a double major in Medical and Criminal Law (if there is a law faculty in the university?). Minoring in general Science. Completing internship at a local law firm.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Afternoon naps, star-gazing, reading, kendo.

Brief History: (please put at least 2 paragraphs)
Hitsugaya was originally born into quite a well-off Japanese family. However, when his young parents split up when he had barely turned one, his mother had chosen to give him up, refusing to allow a child to hinder her future. So from Hitsugaya’s earliest memories, he grew up in a foster home in San Diego, never knowing his real parents.

Then, the year Hitsugaya turned 10, he was adopted by an elderly lady and then moved away in the midst of teary goodbyes. From the foster home that he had known all his life, Hitsugaya moved into the city of Mishima.

It wasn’t luxury or extravagance for little Hitsugaya as he grew up, but he still grew into a cheerful, healthy and brilliant child. So brilliant in fact, that his intelligence became quickly noticed by teachers and students the moment he entered first year in elementary school. He wasn’t sucking-up or showing-off, as it was not in his nature to do so. But with the constant unconcealable bored look on his face, his ability to answer every single question shot at him, coupled with the speed that he managed to finish ALL homework assigned to him… it was too obvious that the grade syllabus could not match up to his level of intelligence at all. However, he had never given much thought to his outstanding brilliance until one day at the age of 15, he received a letter from Mishima University. They were offering him a full scholarship, a place to study in their institution, and even a place to live on their premises.

His baa-san was encouraging of course, but uncomfortable with the idea of leaving his elderly guardian behind alone, Hitsugaya had initially considered refusing the offer. But when the lady agreed to move to Mishima city with him, he finally consented to come. Now, as she lived in a humble apartment in Mishima, Hitsugaya continued to pay frequent visits to her place every week.

Personality (please put at least 2 paragraphs)
Sensible and rational best describes Hitsugaya most of the time. He was born with a careful nature and sharp instincts, helping him be alert and objective on the things he perceives and acts upon. Serious most of the time, Hitsugaya is a dutiful and reliable person. Although he usually tries to be patient with those around him, he still finds it hard to tolerate quite a number of things like childishness, slackness or idiocy.

A person of very little words, he usually only speaks when necessary, but can be very touchy and easily riled up around certain issues such as pet-names, his age, stature etc. At times like these, he might develop a sudden sarcastic edge that only shows through when he’s irritated or ticked off. Although with intelligence and maturity beyond his age, he is caring, fiercely loyal and protective only towards a selected few in his life. And with those few that he could really be himself with, he would tease, joke around and even go all out for them when needed.

Hitsugaya stared into the mirror. If looks could kill, his reflection would've been dead already. It's that damn bowtie on his neck, Hitsugaya swore inwardly as he ripped the lopsided thing off for the umpteenth time. He couldn't do it. It was always either off-center or too loose. Not only did he not know how to put one on properly, it was a total and complete misfit!

Bowties... just don't go with Hitsugaya Toushiro. They just don't, he decided, then tossed the stupid thing onto his bed. It landed on the navy bedsheet beside a pair of black braces, and Hitsugaya's eyes narrowed resentfully at those too. Yamamoto just had to make this a formal banquet, he groused and loosened a button off the top of his white shirt as he slumped onto the end of his bed.

As Hitsugaya undid the complicated knots he'd somehow managed to create on the bowtie from his last attempt to fasten it around his collar, presently there came a smart knock on his door, and a familiar voice calling a long-forsaken nickname rang through. Hesitating for a couple seconds, Hitsugaya got up and opened the door, revealing the curvy form of Matsumoto Rangiku against the sturdy wooden door frame of his dorm room. His left brow lifted almost involuntarily. "What is it?"

She was already dressed in a drop-dead gorgeous red dress, that was, Hitsugaya noted with mild disapproval, showing much more skin than it should in a formal banquet. Not like she was his date tonight or anything, but Matsumoto was still one of Hitsugaya's really close friends.

Pick Two songs for your Character: (please include a very brief description of how these songs relate to your character)

Ju Hua Tai (directly translates into "Chrysanthemum Flower Bed") sung by Jay Chow. It's a Chinese song, but I've translated the lyrics in one of my journal entries and also included a link to the song in YouTube in the entry as well. This song I feel can be sung from Hitsugaya's point of view as it shows his deep thoughtfulness and the conflicts he constantly faces. From the song, we can see that there is a distinct side of gentleness within him, while the other more courageous side is that of a fierce man, prepared to fight for the country, justice, and his love. I've only got one song, but if it's not enough let me know ^^

Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)?
Anti-social generally.

Character Info -
Name: Yagami Light
Fandom: Death Note
Age: 22
Portrayed By: (who is your character's model, please link to or include a picture if you can) Gaspard Ulliel. Here and Here.

College, Job, or Both: (if college include major and year, if job include where.) Yagami Light is a recent graduate of Mishima University (He had transferred there during his Senior Year in college.) Now, he works as an assistant detective for his father at the San Fransisco Police Department. At the moment, his father is on a temporary leave of absence, so Light has taken his place.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities:
Taking over the world. ♥ Tennis, exercising, socializing. Light participates in all of the events a young man his age would usually find enjoyable. On the side, he likes to perform investigations of his own, gathering as much information as possible about the people he keeps in close contact.

Brief History: (please put at least 2 paragraphs)

Light was born the eldest child of a rather caring, though scathingly middle class, family. At a young age, it became obvious that his potential for educational studies was nearly unsurpassed by anyone who had previously been born of the Yagami lineage. He was the perfect child, the model student, the caring older brother, the slightly detached boyfriend, and was easily loved by all those around him. It was this constant care and attention that nourished his narcissistic behavior behind his otherwise altruistic facade.

Yagami Light was a favored student amongst his teacher, elevating through the ranks with unsurprising speed, and despite his good grades and good report with many of those quite older than him, he was still considered a valued friend amongst his peers. He grew up with the strict, though loving, discipline of his father, Soichiro; the constant, attentive care of his mother, Sachiko; and the endearing, though often annoying, admiration of his younger sister, Sayu. His family meant the world to him, though they, like all others, were little more than pawns in the much bigger game of life.

Light graduated Daikoku Private Academy, in Japan, at the age of eighteen, and then went on to attend To-Oh University for his first three years of Undergraduate study. During his senior year in college, his father transferred to San Fransisco by way of a promotion, and it was from then on that Light took an active interest in Soichiro's detective work. Much was kept from him, of course, but he was clever enough to hack his father's computer files to find what information he sought. The idea of seeking out those who made this world "rotten", as he saw it, was a fascinating thought, and it was with some level of convincing (and often times bribery) on his part that lead to his father taking him on as an "assistant". (He could now view those files without having to skirt around the truth. It made life a lot easier, truly.)

Personality (please put at least 2 paragraphs)
Yagami Light is a man made of contradictions, whose only true goal is in edifying himself, and hoarding power for what he believes to be the greater good. No one man can be the judge of what is right and what is wrong, but if someone must take on that responsibility, he finds himself capable of doing just that. His intentions are never cruel, have never been cruel, though to him the ends justifies the means. If all the "bad" men were eradicated from this world, then all the "good" men would be left to prosper and flourish in a new era.

Light is known to be a genius. His mental prowess far surpasses that of most people around him, and for all intents and purposes, he sees only in calculations, and plays life as if it were a rather intricate game. He is friendly, accommodating; the kind of young man who would laugh at a stupid joke, bond with a supposedly worthless person, and strive to make those around him feel comfortable in his presence. He can be overbearing, pressing his opinions on people in such a convincing way that sometimes they can't help but see his views as the only right decision out there. He is loyal, passionate with his thoughts and emotions, and genuine in his want for a better world.

He is lying.

The inward Light and the outward Light are two completely different individuals. Outwardly, his kind smile and accepting ways are infectious. Inwardly, there is a reason and a purpose for acting the way he does. People are pawns, after all, and a first impression often defines how easy or how difficult it would be to manipulate someone in the long run. If he is kind, he can control them, manipulate their suspicions, and twist their opinions to fit his needs. Though, despite the blunt cruelty of it, his intentions are never to hurt that person. If they stand in his way - no, in the way, the only way - then it would be better for everyone if they were eliminated. If they can be swayed to his side, all the better.

Light is cruel, though not cruel. Vicious, though calm. Impatient and violent, though friendly and calculating. The only steady thing about him are the contradictions he makes. Though the emotions he feels or the actions he performs have a motive behind them, he has learned to accept that motive as a part of his humanity. His capacity to care for another person is horribly stunted, though he has learned to live with that, and fake his emotions like the good little actor he is.

Light is a very good liar, because he's only ever really telling the truth.

Role-playing Sample: (3rd person, at least 2 paragraphs)

There was something mesmerizing about the way a man could tap out a symphonic rhythm with nothing more than a pencil, a hard surface, and a blatantly stifling atmosphere. Light tap tap tapped away at the binder laid out on his crossed legs, his eyes roving over the paper he had been studying for the past hour and a half. The face displayed in a small box at the top right corner looked familiar (The same man had been charged with rape not two months ago, though no evidence had been collected in the affirmative.), but the list of previous crimes had shifted, if but imperceptibly.

Ah. There.

Light scratched out a brief note beside a charge that read, 'Assault', then drew a line from his recent scribbles to a previous note he had made at the top of the page. The line intersected another note in the center, and that was where both charges connected. The man had assaulted a twelve-year-old girl a couple years back, a young woman who happened to be the child of the lady he had supposedly raped. The same lady who--

He flipped through a sheaf of papers to his right to confirm his findings.

-- who had turned in another woman accused of dealing drugs. This second woman was off of parole now, but if she was caught dealing the illegal substances one more time, she'd be locked away for good. Funny thing, though. The Anita Smith in his archives, and the Anita Smith who had filed the rape charge, didn't share the same picture.
